A 2018 Boston-Philly transplant, singer Ted Davis has performed at the Vermont Jazz Center, Interplay Jazz at Endicott College, and multiple cabaret rooms in the Boston/ Cambridge area. He released his first album of standards, My Favorite Year, in 2003 with musicians Maggie Scott, John Repucci, and Gary Johnson. Ted joined producer Rebecca Parris and composer Louise van Aarsen in singing “Forever” on Louise’s internationally acclaimed 2012 release, Destiny, and has reprised the trio in live performances on radio and television. A student of SheiIa Jordan, Maggie Scott, Dena DeRose, Fred Haas, Rebecca Parris, Kaylé Brecher, and Carol Sloane, he was also a participant in the 2010 International Cabaret Conference at Yale.

In 2011, he and playwright/actor/singer Maeve Spain performed their show, Alone Together, Again, to a sold-out house at the Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center. The pair rejoined forces for their jazz cabaret productions, Kiss Her Now (2015) and Old Friends (2017) in sold-out shows at Newburyport’s Black Box Theater. In between, Ted and actor/singer Ashley Lieberman performed their show, Lies and Other Truths, to a packed house at Club Café in Boston (2016).

He has been described by Boston jazz doyen Maggie Scott as a “sensitive and lyrical singer with a penchant for interpretation."

"Ted Davis possesses a lovely spirit, lovely voice, and a love for the American songbook.”  — Rebecca Parris

“With natural phrasing and an easy elegance, Ted’s rich, mellow tone reveals his strong musical instincts and personal connection to each song he sings. He sings only what he loves...and like a lover he explores the essence of each song. You are convinced that he knows what he is singing about and that his prime intent is to share it with you, the audience.” — Maeve Spain
